Network design and EMS activities are key business areas for AnswerZ.

In addition to mainstream commercial products such as Cisco's network management offerings, HP OpenView, IBM Tivoli and the MicroMuse suite of offerings, AnswerZ has developed its own tools and uses and contributes towards the development of open-source products such as MRTG and Big Brother.

A few examples of AnswerZ involvement in EMS activities include:

  • Since 1994, provided a broad range of IT services to several Highly Protected Australian government organisations. These services have included MRTG, Big Brother and Network Node Manager products.
  • For several years provided the principal technical resources to the Australian Department of Employment and Work Relations for its network and systems management group.
  • Assisted CSIRO in the review of its network and systems management requirements.
  • Provided technical assistance to Centrelink in the deployment of CiscoWorks 2000 product suite.
  • Provided network and systems management services to a number of other small, medium and large organisations in the public and private sectors such as Coles-Myer, CASA, the Department of Transport and Tenix Defence Industries on a variety of hardware and software platforms.
  • From June 2002, provided WAN and LAN management services for the Tenix Group of companies. This service is provided remotely and leverages on a number of AnswerZ EMS initiatives including NetGineer, a multi-faceted tool that provides distributed monitoring, out-of-band management and proxy capabilities.
  • Since mid 2000, provided consulting and implementation services to DFAT in support of its systems and network management functions.
  • Assisted various areas within a major Defence group with systems and network management consulting and implementation services including MRTG, Big Brother and Network Node Manager. Also assisted the Network Operations Centre to collapse its multi-console requirements into a desktop friendly, multi-screen implementation.
